Mirrors of the Mind: The Psychotherapist as Artist
I cultivate creative expression in fellow psychotherapists, having co-founded, curated, and co-edited four yearly exhibitions of psychotherapist art.
These exhibitions are sponsored by the Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA), and include both visual and performing arts.

Mirrors of the Mind 1: The Psychotherapist as Artist Book
This inaugural book celebrates the art and unique perspectives of psychotherapists through the visual arts. This exhibition book was produced by the Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA) and contains the art and artist statements that were hung at the Gus Harper Gallery on September 29 and 30, 2012. The art reflects the spirit of the 2012 LACPA theme, Compassion and Community, chosen by the 2012 President, Pamela McCrory, PhD. Mirrors of the Mind reveals how psychotherapists use their creativity to cross-fertilize, heal, rail against, and renew through self-expression. The exhibition, now captured in book form, presents a rare opportunity for colleagues and the community at large to peer into the normally veiled, private spaces of the psychotherapist.
Mirrors of the Mind 2: The Psychotherapist as Artist
Our second book celebrates creativity and the power of art to create empathy and enrich understanding of psychology and psychotherapy through unique perspectives of psychotherapists. This exhibition book was produced by the Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA) and contains the art and accompanying artist statements exhibited at Art Share LA, Los Angeles, from November 23 through December 1, 2013. Forty-nine psychotherapist artists are represented in these pages. Mirrors of the Mind 2 continues exploring how psychotherapists use their creativity to cross-fertilize, heal, rail against, and renew through self-expression. The art and the artist self-reflections provide a rare opportunity for colleagues and the community at large to explore with the artists a variety of themes ranging from mental illness, loss, social protest, parenting, spirituality and reverence in the human connection with nature.
